As the month of October commences, the cryptocurrency community is buzzing on the launch of Telegram Open Network (TON), expected on no later than October 31. In an email leaked to the press, TON assured their investors that the project is on track to launch by the end of the month.
The well-awaited project raised over $1 billion USD during its ICO and has since been developed in almost total secrecy and the latest reports are yet to be officially confirmed.
TON Labs CTO Confirms Launch
In an email to Coindesk, Mitja Goroshevsky, the CTO of TON Labs, a development community dedicated in building TON network, confirmed the platform will be ready by the end of the month. Mitja further confirmed the organization will be running its own validation node on TON.
Furthermore, TON Labs development community runs a Telegram page that keeps investors and other stakeholders on the project ahead of what is happening. An email posted on the page sent from the giant messaging company requires their investors to provide their public keys before Oct 16
“using the key generator in order to receive the tokens bought during the ICO.”
Power to the Node Holders
In the leaked email, the governance aspect of TON seems to be left to node validators with Telegram expected to steer off the decision making on the platform. The email reads,
“Investors have to select validators. Neither Telegram nor the TON Foundation will serve as validators post-launch.”
TON recently released its public beta test despite Telegram not having publicly announced the actual launch of the platform. Furthermore, the iOS GRAM wallet was released in late September. For TON enthusiasts and investors, the launch of the TON project is expected by the end of October.
