Ripple, a giant in the cryptocurrency industry, has teamed up with the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University for the University Blockchain Research Initiative.
The Japanese academia has a high level of interest in crypto, according a spokesperson at Ripple. The company is committed to inspiring students with blockchain and fintech. Scholarships will be awarded to students of the University of Tokyo for their research in blockchain. Professors will also be involved in research on the system and regulations as well as supervision for the industry.
Kyoto University is also conducting research by students on supply chain management among other topics. Ripple believes that demand will grow with globalization. Teaming up with universities helps bring in a new set of engineers as well as business leaders and other professionals with a better understanding of blockchain.
